WeatherLink and MeteoBridge **Solved**

Post by Seedubs »

Hi,

I have my Meteobridge up and running ok with my Vantage Vue and USB Datalogger, but noticed in the release notes for 2.5 that there is now the facility to have a PC program running in parallel to Meteobridge?

" Meteobridge allows parallel use of the Vantage by a PC program, which connects to the Meteobridge on port 22222 (like with a Davis IP logger). Meteobridge can also pass through the connection to the Davis station to an additional PC weather program of your liking. Therefore, you can use Meteobridge and a PC weather program in parallel."

Does this mean I can also use my WeatherLink software and configure it to receive data on port 22222 from Meteobridge? If so can anyone explain how this is achieved, I attempted to start WeatherLink on TCP/IP with a port of 22222 and it failed to connect, if I attempt the connection via USB (I have a USB datalogger) then it warns me not to do this as the datalogger will no longer update any other device (Meteobridge)?

Cheers

Chris

yes, exactly. Just configure your WeatherLink like connecting it via TCP/IP with the IP of your Meteobridge and using the default WLIP port 22222.

I am doing this, but get the following error:

"TCP/IP : Communication error found. Check settings and try again."

I have rebooted my Meteobridge to pick up any changes to 2.5 but this is still showing as an error.

Cheers

Any suggestions, is this an existing error, or do I need to do something else?

I am seeing this in the log file:

Just tried to connect the weatherlink which is on my main desktop computer, to meteobridge which is at the other part of the house.
Downloaded all the missing data from the data logger!

Well, its good to know it works, but mine does not, is there anything special I need to do apart from configuring the 'Communications Port' > 'Local Device ID' settings within WeatherLink?

By the way, my version of WeatherLink is 6.0.3, just in case it is a version problem?

Cheers

mine 6.03 too.
TCP/IP setting, 22222 port. Needed to press test for a couple of times, untill the station was found. Tried it on another computer in the same network, and works fine. In fact I copied all the weatherlink folder to the other computer, and connected automatically...

Well obviously the network is fine as Culumbus connects on the same port & IP to meteobridge, so must be something in WL, might try reinstalling and seeing what happens.

Well, reinstalled, and still the same, I suppose I will have to use Cumulus.

configuring the 'Communications Port' > 'Local Device ID'
Hi there, my weatherlink works fine also, but in the Davies software you have to programme the Remote IP and NOT the Local Device ID. That is the second box in that part of the communications form of Weatherlink. I was initially caught out by this, as it is a little counter-intuitive. I understand the "Local" box searches for a a Davies MAC number. I wonder if that might be your problem?

BigJazza,

Many thanks, that was it, I had tried the remote setting before, but failed and therefore dismissed it, as you said, seems counter-intuitive when I am connecting locally.

Thanks for all the help guys, much appreciated.
