Could we have an instant email alert on sensor setting?

Would it be possible to add an instant email alert to sensors?
Smart phones are very common now and make receiving instant email weather alerts very easy.
For example if your outdoor sensor drops below a set level an instant email would alert you to a possible frost. You could have a wind gust alert or a rain alert on your wet leaf.
