Transfer from RaspPi B+ to 2 **solved**

Post by lignumaqua »

I'm currently running Meteohub on a RaspPi B+ but would like to transfer it to a new RaspPi 2

Ideally I would just like to swap the SD card over to the new system, that way all the data gets transferred and it should be transparent. I've upgraded Meteohub to the most recent build of 5.0i that supports the RaspPi 2, is that all I need to do to make the SD card transferable? Or will I also need to update the OS to make it run on the model 2? The Linux kernel is reported as 3.12.26+

Thanks!

No, you have to install the RPI2 enabled card image. The "old" RPI B+ image will not boot on a RPI2.
When you try to tweak it somehow to work, you will face ongoing trouble with Meteohub updates,
as your base system is not exactly as expected by the update and needless to say, I will not debug
that for you ;-)

Just to finish this out. I followed the migration procedure and all went well. :D

A note to others doing this, two things didn't migrate with the backup file and had to be set/copied over manually:

1. The time zone settings

2. Custom scripts in home/meteohub (I have a custom weather station script and had to copy it over)

I'm very happy with the end result, the RaspPi 2 is noticeably quicker to respond and recalculate.
