activating meteohub: which MAC address?

As I get all the pieces together for my meteohub installation on a new Raspberry Pi 2, I have an activation question.

It would seem that the activation is based on the MAC address of the device, which is unique. My question is this - if I am planning on using wifi, can I use the MAC address of the built-in wired ethernet port? This port won't be "live" on the network, but is more permanent to the Pi hardware as the wifi is a usb dongle.

adding a wifi dongle will not change the system ID which determines the activation code.
