Expanding Image File on a Mac

Post by Richardsonsimon »

Hello Forum,

I was wondering if anyone had any advice of how I can expand the Image File for a Raspberry Pi on an Apple Mac, the instructions only seem to cover Windows.

Thank you

Mac OS X does not include the Linux command "unrar" that you need to expand the image. Search on the Apple App Store for "unrar" and you will find many apps that will extract .rar files. I have a Mac but I used a Linux box to expand my RPI image, so I haven't used any of these tools myself yet. Good luck!

Hi Simon,

I have found Apple Pi Baker at http://www.tweaking4all.com/hardware/ra ... -pi-baker/ to work, but I am still having the same issues I had with the Windows version. The Mateo software just hangs with no visible lights. The monitor just shows a page of code, that hang

I would love some way out to get my RPi going for this software

Cheers

Apple Pi Baker worked. Ensure you use the SD card reader internally, use the long format with your SD card formatter, and Apple Pi Baker to install the image. It seems to work better too, if you have the *.img file in a simple directory, not buried too deeply. One directory level, not under several sub directories. :D :D

I had tried the image writer under Win7 on my laptop, again with internal SD card reader, but either I hadn't held my mouth right, or a corrupted image file, but couldn't get it going
