Question regarding Meteobridge updating.

Post by TinMan »

Hi all,
I'm using Wireless LAN.

Does the meteobridge perform an automatic update each time the update is available? Mine seems too.
The WPS/RESET led is fast flashing endlessly. Which always occurs when there is a update available.
The only to stop this endless loop is to remove power and reapply power, everything works correctly until the next update.

Thanks.

5th April.

Note: it done it again at 6:55 local time this morning, I left it in the
endless loop of the WPS/RESET led quickly flashing for over half a hour.
Switched the metrobridge power off then on, it completed the update
and is working fine. :D

Automatic? (get newest on boot) Is one option. Click the "Version Control" option on System tab and select what you want it to do re updates

Hi Mattk,

thanks for the reply. I will try, but the highest version in the pull down list is 2.7.

The main problem I've always had is every time there is a update available the meteobridge reboots and
the WPS/RESET led starts rapid flashing for ever ( the normal update time is a round about 3-4 minutes).

If i'm not a round to catch it will just sit there in a endless loop for hours if not days.
When the WPS/RESET led is rapid flashing, the Meteobridge is not collecting data from the weather station, nor is it
sending data to WU or WOW.
As I said I have to power cycle (reboot) the meteobridge and it will update correctly, which is correct.

But something is triggering this failed reboot.
I suspect it something to with the WiFi network software in Meteobridge itself and for some reason can't recover.

2.8 is the current version which still is not finalized and therefor not in the archive

This is simply not true. Meteobridge does not reboot when a new software release is available.
With option "get newest on boot" you control that on each reboot (which you initiate) the newest current
version is loaded from the Internet.

The rapid flashing after a reboot indicates that the Meteobridge cannot reach out to the Internet and
by that failes to load the necessary application modules. This is not an optional step as the flash
memory of the MR3020 is too small to hold all applications needed for operation, therefore it needs
to be loaded after boot from the Internet into a ram disk.

I would also recommend to start reading the wiki if you are not sure how this all works. Thanks.
