Dropped the version back to 2.8 and error disappeared.

Went back to latest version (2.9) and error is back.

As I said in the thread below, this seems to be related to the WLIP, when the MB Pro is configured to allow the uploading of data (by the WLIP) to WeatherLink.com.

I configured the MB Pro to NOT allow uploads to WeatherLink.com yesterday, and the LPS error message has NOT appeared even once.

Further update: Indeed, the LPS bad file descriptor message only appears when the MB Pro allows the WLIP to upload to weatherlink.com. To verify this behavior, I configured my MB Pro to allow uploading to weatherlink.com every 10 minutes, and the log (see below) shows the LPS error message exactly every 10 minutes, i.e., whenever the MB Pro pauses to allow the WLIP to upload data to weatherlink.com:

logger (15.06.2016 09:29:56): station 0 (Vantage), can't write string "LPS": Bad file descriptor
logger (15.06.2016 09:40:10): station 0 (Vantage), can't write string "LPS": Bad file descriptor
logger (15.06.2016 09:40:14): station 0 (Vantage), can't write string "LPS": Bad file descriptor
...
...

As the admin said in another thread, perhaps this will be fixed when the pausing period is increased (in the next release).

Verifying that the time given by MB Pro to WLIP to upload data to WeatherLink.com is not enough: over the last few days, I have noticed that some updates to WeatherLink.com are skipped. I have the MB Pro configured to allow the WLIP to upload data to WeatherLink.com every 10 minutes, but I have observed several occasions (on WeatherLink.com) where some 10-minute update instances are skipped (they are never uploaded to WeatherLink.com).

This indicates that the WLIP is not given enough time (by the MB Pro) to upload its data, which may also explain the "LPS bad file descriptor" messages in the MB Pro's log. The admin has mentioned here (viewtopic.php?f=56&t=10867&start=15) that the pausing period would be increased from 10 to 15 secs in a future release. I hope this will fix the problem.

Is it possible that this MB Pro/WLIP interaction issue is also linked to the error message reported in this thread?

One thing I have confirmed is, this "LPS" error occurs in any build version of 2.9 but does not exist in the last build of 2.8
