User defined Display shut off

Post by admin »

As some had requested an option to shut down the MB PRO display during night, I added the following feature to the latest release:

1) You can keep display always on (default),
2) set it permanently off,
3) set it off during night time (will be computed automatically regarding your geo coordinates),
4) or set it on/off following an hour schedule you do individually.

Settings can be found on "System" tab in section "Localization".

Will there be any power saving?

MB PRO does measure and record its power demand (data14num),
so you can easily inspect yourself ;-) My rig was configured to
have the display off during night. Result is...

It is less than a 1/10 watt so it might not really help saving energy.
The request did come to avoid too much light during night in rooms where
people might intend to sleep.
