Can't find meteohub with other router
Moderator: Mattk
Screenshots of the current settings in the link added

I can find the meteohub when I use an internet over power cable for both the Meteohub aswell as my Laptop.
It is found...but I cannot couple it to the WWW (I asked people to type in WAN IP and they got an error message).
When I reach the dyndns page at the Speedtouch router, there is nothing to change. The help change directs me to settings not to be found.
Wfpost or anyone else: comments?

Re:Can't find meteohub with other router
some routers cannot forward port 80 correctly, because they use it for their own purpose.
Try to forward port 8888 to local 80. Trigger port can be left empty. You can simply reach the meteohub from the outside by putting ":8888" at the end of the IP-Part of the URL, Example: "http://js.dyndns.org:8888"

Re:Can't find meteohub with other router
Hej,
Thanks. So I can keep my dyndns the same, but only have to add :8888 to it. AND have to try to forward Port 8888 to local port 80 in the router I guess?
So I have to "translate" port 80 into 8888 (see link) in the router, or not?

Thanks.

yes,
translate port range 8888-8888 to 80.

Re:Can't find meteohub with other router
Thanks, I will try that. Did you take a look at the screnshots and if so, found anything peculiar? As I ahev said: the more I try to find out about the Speedtouch, the more it seems to me that this router is particulary bad for these sorts of things. I am everstill reading hours on end, but it is not really helpfull. Instead I encounter one "drama" after another. And indeed the remarks that the manual of this router is particulary not helpfull is true. Many things, like the DMZ etc are not explained...Like Dyndns etcetc.
If I install another router over there, would it just work like that or do you have to install something on it before it works? I can't remember that I had to do this with my router are other routers, but than again I have a router and not a modem router combi.

Re:Can't find meteohub with other router
Oke, I did not know that I have to type....xx.dyndns.org:80 I tried to access it once without the :80.
In the manual of Meteohub I read that I have to type :80 or :8888/admin.html . Is this correct, meaning the only way to access the meteohub with the addition of "admin.html"?

dyndns needs an update?
what does that mean. I have read couple of fora. I searched google on it, but did not found it on dyndns.org, although it is probably there.
I read that every even hour, dydndns updates an IP address. The router is constantly on, so what does this remark in the routers GUI, section Dynamic DNS mean? Do I have to manually update the IP or what? Should do this by itself I guess...?

Re:dyndns needs an update?
Jorge, had a look at your screenshots.
Port Forwarding is configured correct, but DYNDNS is not working.
Here´s a screenie from my ST DYNDNS.

About your question:
the DynDNS service with Speedtouch as with any router is only sending updates to the external Dynamic DNS provider when the external=WAN-IP changes. As said earlier this is only the case every 24h or when the router got a PPP reconnect command.
Two things:
1. Please log into your DYNDNS account and check your current WAN-IP.
What IP is connected with your host?
2. Ping host-(name) and then WAN-IP. Result?
What Speedtouch model do you have?
ST 546?
Port Forwarding is configured correct, but DYNDNS is not working.

Re:dyndns needs an update?
It means, that the ST router wasn´t able to send the current WAN-IP to your DYNDNS provider and updating their DNS database was not successful. Therefore you can´t use the hostname to get connected to your ST network.J.S. wrote:what does that mean. I have read couple of fora. Please check event log of ST router.
Have you setup a host with dyndsn.org?
Username is not hostname!!
Hostname has to created separately, otherwise it won´t do!
I wonder why you need a DYNDNS service?
You mentioned earlier that you have a static IP with your Dutch broadband ISP.
Re:dyndns needs an update?
my dyndns host

Re:dyndns needs an update?
If I ping your host it does not return echoes:
Have you created a host with the dyndsn.org website when logged in?
My guess is, that the ST router can´t update the external DNS database because of a misconfiguration there.

Re:dyndns needs an update?
I am currently at home, so WAN IP shows my home WAN. It also shows an old IP from the router as the standard setting.
Model is the 780 (and it is not mine! ;-) ).
When I was there yesterday, it was changed (from 212.xx.xxx.xxx into 213.xx.xxx.xxx). Which seems logical (checked what is my IP). But I think 212 or 213 sound a lot different that 81 82 or 83.xxx.xxx.xx. Isn''t this a peculiar address? Is this the public IP address??
Another thing that might be of importance: I have administrator rights, now threw all the manuals I have browsed, I saw things like superuser poweruser etc settings which meant yu had more or less rights to change settings in the routers. When I tried to look 'm up again, I did not find them again. Are administrator rights the maximum rights (or enough).
I already send a few mails to their provider, asking them a couple of things. Today. So I have to wait and see. I asked them if some portranges were blocked by them, which seems to happen in some cases with some providers.

Re:dyndns needs an update?
Well...I try all possibilities. If I had this thing over here, I would be testing all the time and take much more risks. Because this router is essential to someone elses Internet access, I am cautious. So I try to do what I can and see what happens, as long as I do not have to take risks.
Edit: found this.

On a forum, they say that dyndns is not to be found in the GUI of the Speedtouch.

Re:dyndns needs an update?
May be because there is no device currently attached to it? I take the Meteohub with me when I am done over there, because I have to put a waterproof housing on the wall as it resides in barn. Won't do that, until I have this working.
So should it ping or shouldn't it.
My username is Jxxxxx and my hostname is jorges1dyndns.org as you know. So they are different.
If I did this correct, what could be misconfigured according to you?
If you compare the screenshots, the problem is that my IP seems to be 0.0.0.0 and yours looks much more familiar (81.xx.xx.xx). So how do you get it and why don't I. If portforwarding is not accepted at port 80 by the ISP, than may be this is the problem as dyndns cannot reach the router (??). I have no clue, but there has got be a reason I guess (I know).
DO I need the DNS of solcon, the internet provider for something? They are Solcon:
Primary: ns1.solcon.nl [212.45.32.3]
Secundary: ns2.solcon.nl [212.45.33.3]
ns3.solcon.nl [212.45.37.3]
ns4.solcon.nl [212.45.35.3]
I have a static IP adres in my Meteohub, and I know that primary and secondary DNS should be filled in. Do I have to do this manually when I do not use DHCP??
Do I need a client updater, I found this on dyndns.org but am not sure what its use is...
Do I need to install the dyndns updater, or does it work just by making an account (like I did). I read I had to install this in my network...how I don't know.

Went over there
and could not open the Meteohub on the router. It is there, but I cannot edit. It shows the port 80, but I cannot change that. The router just doesn't let me edit it.
The log file says taht DNS update was not succesfull because it was misconfigured or something like that. I do not know what I did wrong, because password, hostname etc are right.
