Easy way to switch from 2GB to 4GB flash drive?

Post by mvpel »

Is there an easy way to switch from a 2GB to a 4GB flash drive?

As far as I can tell at this point, I'd have to image a 4GB memory stick with the new Meteohub software, and then transfer the data over.

I assume that the "clone" function will only clone to the same size flash drive, as the filesystem layout would be cloned along with the data.

I'm replacing my 2GB flash drive with a more reputable brand since it has caused filesystem errors twice now.

Yes - it is very easy to do and I did the same thing a few weeks ago... I'm not at home right now and can't see my settings - but I beleive you follow the instructions in the manual... Bascially go to the Maint tab and clone a stick - you first remove your weather station and put in the new usb stick to clone - then when it shuts off - just replace it with the old one... The cloning process automatically utlizes the extra space for data rather than program space.....

Thanks for the reference! My Meteohub came with a practically nonexistent manual from Ambient, so I appreciate your information.

Is it necessary, when cloning, for the new drive to be in the "Disk 1" port on the NSLU2? Currently, my weather station is attached to Disk2, and my flash disk is connected to Disk1.

Yep - mine too.... Basically use the manual included in the download section.... It's very well done and gives you a ton of information...!

cloning is not working correctly with versions below 2.8b. Which USB-slot the stick is in, is not important.

2.8b that supports USB cloning will be avail in an hour or two evening.
