Lufft - Protocol

Post by Mattk »

Weather Station tab option Lufft: WS600, is this specific to the WS600 model only or a generic Lufft protocol and would this support the WS700-UMB and/or WS800-UMB?

Never tried, but as the Lufft stations operate in a common UMB mode and have dedicated channels which imho are most likely shared between models there is a good chance those will work. If some tweaks are needed I am motivated to work on that, when I get remote access to a connected Meteobridge. I developed quite some drivers this way, without ever having had physical access to the station. :D

Hi Matt

I have some experience with LUFFT-Equipment. First Sensor I applied with the programming-Work from Boris Pasternak to meteobridge was the WS600. The WS601 is the same and worked without any change son the Interface.

Then the WS500 was included and the WS700. Last modifications in the interface where the possibility, to add a 2nd Tempsensor to a WS6xx Sensor. This is cool, to measure the temp on 5cm or on the surface (road!).

Here in my shop you find some PDF in the Tab "PDF":
https://www.meteo.cc/Multifunktionssensor-WS600-UMB

I sell sensors and/or Interfaces or complete systems.

Best regards, Markus

Thanks Markus, Even though I can't read those PDF's the pictures do answer some of my questions especially with regard the MBPro serial/USB connection. Say would you have English versions of those PDF's?

Just started looking at the Lufft sensors and more toward the full Ultrasonic models. From what I see the models like the WS401 & WS601 have mechanical tipper rain measurements? This then makes the 600, 700 & 800 of more interest? From what I see so far the 600 has no radiation, the 700 has radiation + external sensor, the 800 is basically a 700 with the addition of lightning detection. Would that be correct? Both the 700 & 800 support one external sensor?

Here in AU I have found the 601, 700 & 800 available but not the 600. I see some models listed as WS700, WS800 etc as well as WS700-UMB etc. Is there any significance of the UMB addition to the name?

No thanks, currently not, but good to know that you have one operating with Meteobridge. So I can add WS-601 and WS-700 to list of supported devices. :D

Just to confirm then the 601 raincollector is mechanical/tipper style?

What are the thoughts with connecting a Lufft Ws-xxx via something like a Moxa Nport 5150A (capable of RS-232/422/485) and Ethernet/network? Does the Lufft config simply use a serial port? Given the Moxa has an IP address, is it or would it then be possible to connect the MBP (with modification) via an IP?

In my understanding that might work in general, but currently Meteobridge expects to connect to it by a USB serial protocol.
