3 UV meters and updates in combination with weatherundergrou

Post by J.S. »

What if I start three of the same UV sensors, one pointed to the east, another to the south and another to the west. Will Meteohub see them as three separate UV meters or as one, because they do not have different channels?? I have noticed that UV-meters only measure a part of the day, despite full sunshine (they do not have a wide angle for incoming sun). I would like to get those three UV sensors in one graph on weatherunderground, but am not sure if it will work that way.

(Another thing is that I see that Meteohub or Weatherunderground does not frequently update the rainfall amount or the windgust on Weatherunder-ground. Other stations not using meteohub do. Why is that? Do I need another revision??) Yes I do: 2.8. But I am not really willing to update. Still running 2.6

UV sensors (as all other Oregon sensors) generate a unique I when putting in batteries or pressing the sensor's reset button. Meteohub makes use of this ID to distinguish betweens sensors. So the 3 UV sensors will be seen as three different sensors as long as they do have a different ID.

If you are very unlucky two sensors might pick up the same ID. This would result in jumping values in Meteohub for that sensor. pressing reset at one of them should cure that, giving the reseted one a new ID.

There have been a lot of improvements since 2.6. If you take the file-based update way, there shouldn't be a problem.

But I want them to use the same ID! If I start them up one after another with a one minute interval, it would look like it is the same sensor. Now they all would point to another direction so the highest value would be an indication of solar duration (sort of of course UV is only a part of the solar spectrum).

I've no idea how many possible IDs there are but my guess is that the number is quite large and that to achieve that you'd need to spend a lot of time hitting reset till it happened!
I have a lot of OS wireless sensors and so far as I'm aware I've never had two happen to choose the same 'ID', let alone three.

(And that's assuming that the system isn't intelligent enough to deliberately choose a 'free' ID)
