Pi 3B vs 3B+
After a reboot to move it my Alix 3D2 no longer boots, both the original image and a reflash result in Grub hanging during the boot process so I've decided to move to a Pi, which will also remove the need to keep a pile of antiquated hardware support (CF card reader and other stuff) around. The current model is the slightly faster 3B+ but it only came out a month or so ago, can it be used as a drop-in replacement for the original 3B?

Argh, the 3B image won't boot on the 3B+!
Is there any chance of getting an image updated for the 3B+? I really don't want to go out and buy a 3B now that I've already got the 3B+. I'm currently trying to patch together a Frankenkernel with parts of the 3B+ firmware and the current 3B firmware, but I'm not having much success.
OK, I wasn't expecting to have much success, but I don't have any other options...

It looks like I've got the Frankenkernel booting on the 3B+. Stand by for details in a separate post.
Man, this is an ugly hack.
