Hello.

Yes i know that. But still - ok, the license will then be transferred - no problem with that. I wanted to order a nwe nslu2 for 65€. And if I sell it later, i will get - max 40€. If I wait for the tine (some months) and stay as long with the sollution, that i have i have to buy only the new platform and that's it. I don't know what i should do now :S. Maybe i buy the wjole thing and then the whole platform. Don't knoe.. Do you have any further infos about the new platform when it will be awailable? Q4 is big :D. Start, mid, end?
I also have to buy the USB stik - aprox 10€ and the cable - which will be a problem here in Slovenia... Have found only the "normal" ones like: http://www.abacus.si/index.php?page=sho ... t&Itemid=2 don't think it has the right chipset thou...

Well..I bought one in Holland for 40 euro and works fine (second hand). I could buy five of these, which would approximately cost the same as one of those new ones. So even if 3 would break down, it would still be cheaper.
The new platform is understandable, as NSLU2 is not produced and in the long run will not be available anymore.

Unless you want to start your own climatic network, a couple of those NSLU2 would be fine in case one brakes down.

The problem which many people face in this society is choice. We choose things upon possibilities rather than our needs (often). So the "new and better product" sells fine... A better way (in my opinion, but there is science to back this one up) to buy things is to first write down your needs and then chose based upon those needs (and price of course) and not based on possibilities. You will end up with many choices or, a possibility in this case you wait and wait untill the new and better thing comes onto market.

Most people do this and so they go into Mediamarkt only to resurface after 4 hours with lots of info but only more questions and doubts....Or they have been told that something new is on its way. I bought a panasonic Fz-50 because it was still very good. In april 08. All sorts of gossip about the FZ-60. Still no sign of it..

NSLU2 users with meteohub are very pleased in general. I found the installation with RFXCOM very easy. So easy that it took me longer because I thought I made a mistake and asked all sorts of questions. And NSLU 2, based on the possibilities, offers what I need. So I buy that one. It saves a lot of time.

So my tip is: just get the NSLU2 and try it if it meets your current needs. It is cheap, seems to be reliable (in general) and you will be experienced when you do move to the next level. Even as a back up (when the new one breaks down, which also can happen...) it could come in handy as a temporary replacement while the new one is repaired.

A last note: many new things need revisions before working fine. Just look at the revisions of many software packages, the problems with USB on Davis stations etcetcetc and the many firmware upgrades on countless computer hardware items. A stable platform could take more than just the months towards the release of the new product. It could take a year from now..For me, 40-60 euro's do not seem a waste of money, but waiting for all those new and better things is in my opinion often a waste of time.

Hello.

Huh, for the long answer. I tgought on all of this things vefore - no worry. I will probobly buy this box and the license and use it. We'll see what will be. I had a thought - if the new system has more USB's maybe i can plug in my disk - the one that is now in my mini-server and use it there. As file server and maybe there will stay enough power also to run the utorrent. This are then the main things, why I have this mini server. Untill that, I will have two of them - and i don't need 2 :D. I hope u understand what i ment...
For now, I'll try this one and then we'll see what will be :D.

I received a note from him in response to another query that said the announcement would be in a week or two. I know it isn't the same as hearing it from him, but it is an update.
