Evapotranspiration on Twitter

Post by weerwantijdijk »

Shortly I’ve got a brand new Davis VP2 with UV and solar sensor. Now I want to expand my Twitter tweets with the following string:
[sol0evo-ydaysum=mm.1:—] to tweet this once a day. The tweet works only I get blanks — as a result. Also tried sumday and monthsum but all with the same result. Can someone please tell me what it is I’m doing wrong? The values are available on my Davis display, so that shouldn’t be the problem....I think. Hope hearing from you guys; thanks in advance.

Is this a standard MB, MBPro, Nano etc and how is the MB connecting to the VP2?

Thanks for you reaction. It’s an MBpro and connected with the ISS by RF, other communication by WIFI. All the other values are displayed correctly and as I said, my Davis display is showing the ET readings. The website I’m using is also showing the right readings, so I don’t think it has to do with receiving issues.

I think you will find ET is a VP2 calculated value and as you are reading the ISS direct ET will not be available

Hi Matt, thanks for your reaction. So if I understand you, and correct me if I’m wrong, I can’t use the ET in my current configuration? But if the ISS VP2 those ET values provide and my Davis Vue console is picking them up, so can the MBpro ? That’s not different from all the other values from the ISS, is it? If the console provide these values, then I get it, because I haven’t got a wired connection with the MBpro.
But I’m not not a very technical guy, just a weather enthusiast and I’m trying to get the logic.
To summarize: [sol0evo] is a string a cannot use in my current configuration and if I want so, I need a wired connection. Pity :(

VP2 ISS does not provide ET, it is not a simple sensor variable, it is a calculation based on Temp, Wind speed, Solar radiation, Humidity and Atmospheric pressure and Davis have several different methods that calculate ET, ET is not something the ISS actually provides.

Oke, got that. Very complicated stuff :D
So the string [sol0evo] cannot be used in my configuration.
But in the templates for Meteobridge used with Davis, there is a [sol0evo] mentioned; when are those variables appearing then, what do I need more to get a number in mm so I can use it for an automated Twitter tweet?
Perhaps you can tell me that please.
Sorry for my (maybe) annoying persistence, but want to understand it.

sol0ev0 is only available in conjunction with a Davis console or Envoy as ET is a derived value and only accessible (LOOP) to the MB when directly connected.

I have tested your string with a directly cabled MB and it works fine, MBPro via RF either directly from the ISS or re-transmitted from a Console does not which is the expectation as there is no ET value available.

Appreciate the effort you’ve made Matt, thanks man. I understand; finally (it took a while :) ) so it’s no option for me now, because I like the configuration wireless as it is.
Will it changes anything when I switch to MB Nano SD instead of the MBpro, or doesn’t that make any difference (I thought, maybe an option in the near future). But I think I know the answer
Have a nice day,
Best regards Arno

Arno, A NanoSD will be good, will work just like a Davis data logger, that Twitter string will then work fine.

I use the following in my Twitter string:

Code: Select all

• ET: [sol0evo-act.1=:--]mm
viewtopic.php?f=56&t=13372&p=28966#p28966

Thanis for your reply Simon, but I have to buy a MB Nano SD first :D This string won’t work with a MBpro.
BTW, Love your website man, beautiful black gauches.............. Wish I was more technical, I’d made one just like that #jealous :D :D :D

Thanks, gauge colours are done by editing the gauges.js file. its self explanatory :) if you need help let me know..

take a look here:

https://www.conligwx.org/lib/steelserie ... /gauges.js

Code: Select all

            frameDesign : steelseries.FrameDesign.BLACK_METAL,
            background : steelseries.BackgroundColor.PUNCHED_SHEET,

Simon,
The website I’m using is hosted by someone else in Holland. He made it possible for technical #@@!!? like me to easily get access with a MBpro and put it on the web. I’m not in the position to make layout changes. That’s why I want a website of my own someday; but as a told you: I’m not technical and making a website with weather scripts .......pffffff
But my grandmother always says: you’ll always need something to wish for :D :D
But thanks again for your tips and strings.
Regards Arno
