Network Instability

Post by scottbutton »

Hi all.

I’m having some ongoing issues with my Pro and network connectivity. It’ll drop off the wifi network and not recover - sometimes needing a boot of the Pro or sometimes a boot of the wifi access point.

I’ve tried all sorts of trouble shooting, including...
  • A dedicated SSID with the access point a few metres away.
  • Setting the access point to only 2.4Ghz.
  • A nightly reboot of the box using the reboot script.
  • A static IP in case it’s an issue with IP renewal.
After setting the static IP, I wake today to find the display showing there’s no network found. My phone and laptop both show the custom SSID from the same location. The red LED if flashing roughly once every three seconds.

The reset hope doesn’t work when it’s in this state either. I use a paper lip to press & hold - no response at all from the reset attempt. Which this time I was going to flick to LAN and try the cable connection.

With this latest “no network” state, I’m just hoping the weather station data has still been recorded overnight.

Any thoughts or tips?

Thank you.

The boot cycle has now hung - the usual trick of removing power for 15secs and then plugging in again hasn’t worked this time 😢

Hi there,

You could try a different antenna perhaps?

Also do a survey of the wifi signals in your area using your phone and a wifi analyzer app. then set the channel to a dedicated channel number rather than Auto on your router. Pick the least used channel.

Usually Channel 1, 6, or 11 are prefered on the 2.4ghz freq as these frequencies do no overlap each other.

Meteobridge is know not to work well with wifi repeaters or mesh setups. May be that is something you do?

Hi
I have Orbi meshed wifi and noticed MB stopped working wireless. When can we expect rectification for the bug?

Are you classing a system with different technologies that are known not to work well with mesh networks, a bug?
