Datalogging doesn´t start automatically

Hello!

Yesterday I changed the connection between fit-PC and Vantage Pro. After several problems I´m using now the USB version, so I don´t need no RS232 converter anymore.

After a simulated power fail I noticed that the datarecording didn´t start. I had to stop and restart the process. The same problem occured last night after autoboot had rebooted meteohub. No data logging! Again I started the datarecording manually.

What´s going wrong with my meteohub (V3.3)?

The problem is always reproducible: I only need to reboot my meteohub and no more data will be collected. I have to restart the process manually (stop/start).

Also noticeable is that I didn´t get an alert mail, although meteohub got no data over 4 hours.

Another problem is that in this case my HTML template is no longer properly processed.

Meanwhile "Automatic Reboot" is disabled.


Any ideas?

data logging is installed as a service that gets started during boot. does "meteohub log" or "system log" say any specific directly after boot?

Yes, every 30 seconds the following two entries are logged (meteohub.log):
logger (14.01.2009 20:50:04): can't open device /dev/ttyUSB0: No such file or directory
logger (14.01.2009 20:50:34): started Vantage (5).

that indicates that there is a low level problem with the USB-serial converter. What type are you using?

Any other things connected to Fit-PC Slim?

I don´t use a converter. I´m using the direct USB connection to the Vantage (meanwhile I changed the USB ports, the same problem!). There is no other device connected to the fit-PC.

Does that mean I probably have a hardware problem?

hard to say from here...

If you don't mind to open up ports 22 and 7777 on your router and forwarding these (tcp) to the LAN IP of your Meteohub, I could login an look directly at your system. Please mail your WAN IP to "info(at)meteohub.de" if you would like me to do that.

Are you aware that quite a lot of people have had problems with the VP's USB datalogger - not just Meteohub users.

Problem fixed with V3.3c. Is working perfectly.
