RFXCOM and WRM200 console at the same time??

Post by skyewright »

Hi,

Please pardon my ignorance of RF protocols etc., but am I correct in assuming that communication between the Oregon sensors and the RFXCOM is passive from the pint of view of the RFXCOM device, i.e. the RFXCOM is just \"listening\"?

If so, would I be correct in assuming that a given set of sensors could be used both to feed a WMR200 console and a Meteohub via RFXCOM at the same time?

Yes you are right. This is one of the things that make the rfxcom solution a winner.

I have two wmr928 and a wmr112 (without pc interface) running in my home. They all make use of the same sensors.

In addition I use the rfxcom module to get the sensor data into the computer. This allows me to place the displays in the house where I like and not where they can easily be connected to the PC.

Glad to hear it. It is indeed a very interesting possibility. :)

What happens about pressure though? That is measured directly in the WMR200 console, so presumably the RFXCOM has no access to that data?

Similarly for indoor temp/hum, of course, but that is generally less important.

Answering my own question, I now see that this isn't an issue with your equipment because the WMR928 has a separate wireless unit for its pressure and indoor temp/hum, rather than those being built into the console as with the WMR200.

Also i must receive the data from the wmr200 console?

Or i must by another temperature/humitidy sensor für RFXCOM?

When having the rfxcom module connected, you wont be able to read the wmr200 data that doesn't come in via rf but gets generated in the console itself.

You could take the thb sensor from the wmr928 (bthr-918) to get indoor plus baro readings (http://www.echtshop.de/bthr-918-baromet ... -1110.html).
