Metrobridge Weather Camera not updating

Post by Wingfat »

Started to run into a problem with Weather Camera function not updating (set to every 5 min). The External Picture is working fine. This is occurring on the raw image as well as the +text links. If I reboot I get a refreshed image initially but no further updates. (Actually I get one update after the reboot??) Running Meteobridge 4.4 (Sep 14 2020, build 3300), FW 1.4 . I tried to go back to version 4.3 but my backup conf is from 4.4.

I have checked all settings and they seem correct....

Thank You,
Jeff

Clues from other posters lead me to Buffer Full.. 1000 items 100% full. After deleting all Weather Nets and services except Weather Cam, updates progressed as before.

Why would a buffer need 1000 items? Why is the buffer not deleting old data? What version did this occur so I can go back to an older version. Not fond of the multiple tab interface anyway.

N.B Went back to version 4.3 and system is working again. The Buffer did fill up again but took a few hours to do so.

Get rid of retries and reduce frequency of sending data to any services. As long as requests are queuing up in the buffer, it will not work reliable.

Version 4.3 is funtional although buffer is at 100%. I have included my setup which indicates retries and timing information. Please let me know where you see a problem so that I may address it.
Thank you..

As said... I recommend to remove the retries on the 5 secs sendings and relax 5 secs to 10 secs sending. 100% buffer full is not something you should ignore. But I can just recommend, you can do what you like, but then I can't help.

Ok.. I further reduced upload retries and timing.. also switched back to must current FW.
Seems fine at this point with buffer at 1% after 18 hours...

Just can't explain why it worked fine for over a year with the original setting... Thanks

Tons of explanations... the server you transfer to might got slower because of more load or you have different response times in your Internet connection... There are tons of parameters that are important but which are out of your reach and no one will even tell you when something changes there. This is infrastructure not under your control. Therefore, you shouldn't push that to the limits, if you are interested in stability.

I had similar but not exact upload performance issues. I have the majority of my weather service uploads set to 10-minute intervals with the exception of the meteobridge camera (5-min) and the Weather34 template (1-min).

As an example of things outside of your control, for no obvious reason, somewhere in the internet back in June, my webcam would not connect via ftp to upload a .jpg to my own website; even though nothing had changed at either end. If the network mysteriously installs a block of some unidentified kind there is little chance of fixing it. Neither my hosting provider or network provider were remotely interested in identifying the problem as basically all other services were working fine!
