FitPC Network Strangeness

Post by frankc »

OK Meteohub up and running. Everything performing beautifully. But have one strange issue and dont know if its something with the network, with me, or with meteohub.

I have assigned IP to LAN port and another to WLAN port. I connect WLAN to wireless network. I can then log on to either IP (port) with browser. If I then unplug the LAN network cable the WLAN port will no longer let browser log on. A PING to WLAN IP number indicates that the IP is gone off the network. As soon as I reconnect the LAN cable everything return to normal. Does this sound farmiliar in any way? Am I doing something stupid?

you need to do reboot without LAN connected, to get WLAN working. When you start with LAN the route is going through that adapter and will not change when plugging off the LAN cable.

I am sure that the manual also says this.
1) configure WLAN
2) set WLAN as active
3) reboot without LAN cable connected

Just thought I better close this out.

Actually it was not the network at all.
I did a more thorough analysis of the issues.

Apparently after a restart Meteohub immediately starts a Weather Data Recomputation: This is currently taking 36 min (approx). During this time the response to web/ssh/...everything is s-l-o-w.
Once recomp. is finished Meteohub just zips along.

Another up side - I now have a much neater network :)
