I have a alix.1d with a cf-card (kingston ultimate 4GB 266x)and 4GB usb stick. Both formatted fat32, and then installed the meteohub application.
When i boot the device from usb-stick or cf-card i get this message on my screen and nothing happens:
GRUB
did someone recognize this message?

Re:booting problem alix.1d
Did you
1) install the meteohub image onto the USB disk with the right "physical disk" setting?
2) have a monitor connected to ALIX.1D during boot or a paper clip connected as explained in the manual?
Why did you format USB stick and CF card at all? Please follow the steps in the manual exactly.

I cannot boot from usb-stick or cf-card. I follow the steps in the manual.
The bios setup works correct, but when i boot i get only on my screen the word GRUB, nothing else.
During the boot i have a tft monitor connected, no paper clip.
I also try to prepare my cf-card in a cardreader.
-download the image (x86 4.0)
-then write image.bin with the diskimage program to the cf-card
-set bios: first boot from harddisk
-then boot the alix1d with monitor connected (15"tft monitor)
-then only GRUB on the screen.
Is this the solution:

Re:booting problem alix.1d
In diskimage - there are two potential selections for your CF Card - make sure you are using the "physical disk" option which is typically lower on the list... I had a lot of problems once before and it was just me being dumb and not selecting the "physical disk" option - that solved all my problems that I was having....

Problem solved. I did not use the physical disk. (dumb dumb dumb)
My alix1.d is booting now. While it is booting i can select 2 options. Booting debian normal or for single user. Is this importent?
When booting is ready i can access the meteohub with my browser. But i can also login directly om the console. Must i use this option?
When booting is ready i hear several beeps from the alix board. Is this normal?

No need.AenG wrote:When booting is ready i can access the meteohub with my browser. But i can also login directly om the console. Must i use this option?
I run mine 'headless' (no monitor or keyboard), so I don't even see that login offer.
If you need to do somthing "low level" that on the NSLU2 would have required SSH, then with the ALIX you have a choice of either doing it the SSH way, or of going in direct. If you chose the direct option then you'd use the login that you have seen
It is prefectly normal with all hardware for Meteohub to signal its IP by a series of beeps after it has booted up - so it's probably that that you are hearing. When booting is ready i hear several beeps from the alix board. Is this normal?
