Problems getting VMware version to work

Hi all,

I have been happily using the Meteohub software with my NSLU2 since Nov 07.

However, I am interested in moving the application onto a Windows Home Server, using the VMware player.

I downloaded both V3 and V4.1 VMware disk images and fired them up.

The V3 image appears to load correctly and the installation recognises all of the USB devices, including my USB to Serial interface connected to my WMR968. However the V3 image will not log as the software states that the trial period has expired.

The V4.1 image does not recognise any of the USB devices when it boots up, and although it boots to completion and I can log into the web interface, no data is logged.

Has anyone else found this issue or gotten the V4.1 VMware image to work correctly?

What VMware environment are you using, VMware player or VMware server?

You have to setup USB ports in the virtual machine, this link explains a bit how to do that with VMware Player.

As an alternative, you can use the update function to patch your working 3.1 image. Updates can be applied even on outdated Meteohub software. The update sets demo period to end of march.

Thanks for swift reply.

I am running VMware player 2.5.1

In terms of looking at the link explaining how to set up the USB ports:

The link states : "During boot of virtual machine USB components connected to the PC will be displayed"

With the v3.0 VMware player image, the USB devices are present in the VMware devices menu and can be configured. When I run the V4.1 VMware player image, all the USB devices are completely missing.

I am not sure why this is.

In terms of updating the V3.0 VMware image from the web menu in Meteohub - This did not work in one step to V4.1 as I originally tried, but it did via several smaller software upgrade version steps.

All now seems to be O.K.
