Webcam

Post by cd0085 »

Hi there,

I love the application. I think the whole system is fantasic and I look forward to future updates. I intend to purchase it soon.

I am trying to get the webcam to work but it doesn't seem to be able to import the image from the camera. Does it make any difference which USB port it's plugged into? Mind you I've tried both. It's a cheap Trust wb3350p webcam but I should still be able to get the picure on the web admin pages. The upload section is working fine but is just uploading a 0B file each update.

I shall keep persevering.

thanks,

Chris

Right, I've got an image now, but it's all fuzzy. See if you can shed any 'light' on it.

Thanks

sorry to say, but i do have the same problems when meteohub is doing others jobs as well and when the picture is bright or has strong light sources in it (no idea why).

the gspcav1 module that meteohub uses for web cam support, seems to be quite resource hungry, as it is focusing to streaming video. Obviously, the NSLU2 is not really capable of this (especially when doing weather computations in the background).

For the moment I am thinking of disabling the feature again, because the results are extremely poor. So please, dont invest in webcams, Meteohub cannot support this on a satisfactory level.

Thanks for that, no need to disable it really, I just happened to have a webcam lying around and decided to give it a go.

By the way, not sure if you're aware of this, but in the demo version you can create 2 saved graphs if one is left blank it creates one called 'noname'. Just thought it was worth mentioning as I know you're only supposed to be able to save 1 graph.

Thanks,

Chris
