Well - I've finally got it all right and working after sending back the Alix 3d2's. I've had the NSLU2 and recently switched over to the Alix 3d2 (US) which gave me all kinds of fits and problems with rebooting and LAN access issues. Boris tried hard too - but to no avail could either of us find the probems with the Alix - actually 2 of them... So I sent them back and just got my 2 new Ebox 4300's with serial ports...
The 4300 is definitely has a much more solid and quality feel to it! I'm glad I made the switch and I have had abosolutely no problems with the install, operation, access and upgrading firmware on the 4300 - rock solid....which tells me that there was definitely an issue with the 2 Alix's I had and probably their protocals somehow with the LAN....
Now I'm happy and the 4300's were a good move so far!!!! Just make sure you have the CF Card swich on the front of the board moved to master...

Slave/Master Switch
Here is a picture of the slave/master switch on the Ebox 4300 - it comes on the slave setting and needs to be put on the master setting before installation.....you don't have to take the case apart....

Re:Slave/Master Switch
Thanks for the shot: I was either too lazy or too busy with my installation problem to grab my digicam ...
In hindsight, I find it quite strange, that the CF-card is pre-configured as SLAVE device, because most of the users might boot the box from CF card.
Also, did you figure out how to install an internal 2.5" harddisk into the eboc-4300 case?
I ordered the one which was supposed coming with an internal 2.5" harddisk kit.
But neither was such a kit included nor did the poor documentation mention where to install a 2.5" harddisk into the very tiny case
Cheers,
Wolfgang

Re:Slave/Master Switch
I didn't look to hard at the 2.5" option - but it sure would be tight in that case - I wonder if it's meant to not install internally and only externally?
