trying to link an amcrest cam to Aurora MKII. **solved**

Post by 2thepoint »

Hi All,
Before I get into my problem, ANY help is greatly appreciated!!! I'm not super techy, so please understand.

My MB platform is a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B
RAM: 940 MB total, 800 MB free (14% used)
Storage: WD SLC, 14.6 GB total, 14.5 GB free (1% used, 3380.8 yrs)
SW Version: Meteobridge 5.3 (Mar 12 2022, build 2718), FW 1.3

The Amcrest is an IP3M-943 wifi attached to my local network. I can access images using a browser with Amcrests Web View plugin. I added my MB to the camera's ip filter list. I generated numerous scripts/api using various jpeg scenarios with ISpy. I did get one that looked promising "green checks" under Cam setting and uploads. I could click the "bullet INTERNET camera next to the camera settings and it would generate a still image. However when I tried creating still images/URL's under Weather Nets, the pages generated were blank frames.

My goal is to have a functional back yard weather camera that can be launched from my website template using Aurora MKII

Thanks in advance.

Challenge might be to grep a still image in jpeg format from it. Did you try this URL "http://admin:admin@192.168.x.x/cgi-bin/snapshot.cgi?1"
Please try with your browser first, to check if the URL works for you.

Thanks Boris for the reply.

Tried "http://admin:admin@192.168.x.x/cgi-bin/snapshot.cgi?1" in a browser and editing the MB Cam External Picture URL: - received "Error: Camera URL not providing data"

Using: http://admin:PW@192.168.x.xxx/cgi-bin/snapshot.cgi?1 ,

I do get an image when I toggle the "Internet camera" icon on the Cam tab >>http://192.168.x.xxx/aircam.jpg. It dies when I try to generate an image on the Weather Nets tab. Launching either the "camera" icon or the "text & cam" icons result in generating and opening a new blank page with the URL below??

URL:http://admin.meteobridge.com/cam/61dd74 ... amplus.jpg

thx

When you don't find a URL that makes your cam to report back a simple JPEG (not any HTML with some pictures included), then you are out of luck. You can research that with your browser, Meteobridge does not do any magic, sorry.

Boris,
I'll continue to research the problem. Most likely a setting/limitation of the camera. I have no issue with Meteobridge. It's a good product that I have been using for years.

thanks for the reply...

Making progress...power cycled the MB RPi. Now I can grab images from the Cam settings along with Weather Nets MB Weather Cam settings. Images were generated with and without text overlay. Next on to the Weather34 Aurora MKII!!

stay tuned.

Good news!! Problem Solved! Please Close....

I needed to insert the URL generated under the Weather Network tab (with/without text overlay) into the Weather34 control panel "Webcam Add Your Path/Url to your webcam (i.e https://something.com/webcam.jpg)
https://admin.meteobridge.com/cam/61dd7 ... amplus.jpg
