Private messaging functionality gone?

Does everyone still have the ability to send and receive private messages? I'm in the middle of two conversations with people, one of which owes money after sending them some kit, and out of nowhere I no longer have the ability to send or receive messages.

Of course I can't contact the board admin about the problem for the same reason
