Weather Station Disconnection - GW1000

Post by iamdm »

Hi folks,

I'm having an issue with my GW1000 disconnecting/giving timeout log errors in my meteobridge.

I'm running latest release, RPI dedicated to meteobridge. I have one physical sensor, where my HP2551 and GW1000 both pull data from. The LAN setup uses static IP addressing for all pertinent devices. It's a mesh wifi network, although the RPI is connected to one of the nodes via ethernet, all devices actually connect to the same node.

Both of the weather station devices show live data and I can see them over the network, so they are operating normally.

My issue is that after a random period of time, the meteobridge will disconnect from the GW1000, then give timeout errors until the meteobridge is rebooted. Rebooting the GW100 does not fix the issue.

This is the error sequence:

logger (17.04.2022 17:12:22): station 1 (GW1000), no signal for 900 seconds, station to be restarted.
logger (17.04.2022 17:12:22): disconnect station 1 (GW1000): timeout
logger (17.04.2022 17:13:07): station 1 (GW1000), error connect socket 192.168.1.93 (22): port 45000: Invalid argument
logger (17.04.2022 17:20:37): message above repeats 15 times.
logger (17.04.2022 17:20:52): connect station 1 (GW1000 via TCP/IP).
logger (17.04.2022 17:27:23): station 1 (GW1000), no synchronization for 900 seconds, data logger will be restarted.
logger (17.04.2022 17:27:23): disconnect station 1 (GW1000): timeout

I've now connected both the GW1000 HP2551 to the meteobridge to see if this resolves the issue or at least give me more data to fault find, but it's not really giving me anything of interest, other than not disconnecting the HP2551, which makes me think this is not a network issue, so down to a meteobridge issue.

Any idea's?

When IP of GW1000 has changed, you will see these types of errors.

Did you give the GW1000 a static IP or did you tell your router to give it a fixed IP based on the MAC? You have to do one of these actions in order to avoid the IP changing.

Yeah, it’s definitely one of those……pretty sure it’s assigned static from my router, but can’t recall which one I did. Either way, it’s fixed static otherwise MB would lose it every time leases renewed, as you say.

The fact that a reboot of the meteobridge fixes this, tells me it’s not a network config issue (otherwise I’d have to reconfigure it in MB as well).

When you are on WiFi and access point or router changes transmission channel, Meteobridge might be somehow cut off. This will not only affect GW1000 operation but also any network operation. I such a case reboot of Meteobridge might be needed.
