RFXCOM connection refused error in Meteohub.log

Post by patrick.heinrichs »

Hi all,

On my domotica server (where also Homeseer is installed), I'm using VMware player to run the Meteohub environment. Now I can acces the Meteohub website and I'm trying to make a connection with my RFXCOM LAN receiver+transmitter (87005). However when using IP:10001 I get an error in meteohub.log: "station 0 (RFXCOM), error connect socket 192.168.2.215: port 10001: Connection refused".

What am I doing wrong?

Regards,

Patrick

IP versions of RFXCOM can handle only one connection at a time.

Something I didn't realise when I got mine either.

Having seen mention of UDP as one of the protocols I sort of expected that it would be possible to have more than one thing "listening"...

Not a problem, but it would be very nice if more than one connection were possible, even if some were "read only" (if such a thing makes sense in this context).

RFXCOM makes use of a ready to go rs232-LAN converter, which just can handle one connection. So it is mainly out of their direct control to change that. However, Vantage WLIP has the same problem and I have to admit, that Meteohub also just allows one remote Meteohub to hook on to the "slave" Meteohub via TCP/IP. But I could change this, if requested ;-)

Since Meteohub is duplicating all RFXcom data on port 5500 I expected that I could use the lantronix port redirector and point it to port 5500 on my meteohub (and receive all the data to be used in homeseer), but apparently that doesn't work, or more likely, I'm doing something wrong?

Is this something that should work, or am I asking for the impossible?

Data should be available for reading, but Meteohub does not report data back to rfxcom. I don't know if homeseer expects directional access.

Well,

At this stage it's not even homeseer involved.

The 1st step that needs to be done is setting up the LAN to comport redirector (LAN/WLAN COM Port Redirector for Windows), I've tried to connect it to port 5500, but that fails. On the other hand, the RFReceiver test program shipped with RFXcom connects perfectly to port 5500, so something is different in the way the utilities are connecting.
