TL-MR3020 IP scanning **solved**

Post by jzawacki »

I have a Meteobridge running on the TL-MR3020 (plus USB hub). The unit connects to my network via Wi-Fi and to my Vantage Pro weather station via USB. I used Wireshark to look at the network traffic on my network and I see the meteobridge constantly broadcasting ARP requests for what looks to be every device on my network. This is odd behaviour since the metebridge has an IP address and the correct gateway. Does anyone have any thoughts as to why it keeps ARPing my entire network?

When Meteobridge starts it does a ping to all 255 IPs in your class C network to get the MAC of IP devices connected. Results are used by Meteobridge to suggest an IP when trying to connect a Davis WLIP (or other IP based weather station) based on the discovered IPs and vendor MACs.
Apart from this initial pings not further discovery in your network is done by Meteobridge.
