Email to WeatherNetworks / Push Services (DMI.dk Borgervejr)

Post by majland »

The Danish Meteorological Institute has a service similar to other weather networks called "Borgervejr"

http://www.dmi.dk/dmi/index/danmark/bor ... bvobs=true

The accept measurements by email. The suggest to use the windows software Virtuel Weather Station, Weather Display* or Weatherlink

DMI then shows the measurement along with measurements from the official measurements stations. I.e the red dots on the above map is official while the blue is submitted to them by email

Even trough DMI is the most used weather site in Denmark it is ofcourse of limited interest to all others. But maybe an email interface could be usefull for others as well

* I've seen there is a console version for the NSLU2

I am always open to implement new weather networks. As we have "Sauerland-Wetter" a site that covers complete Denmark should be supported ;-)

As I don't understand Dansih, could you please help me to get a spec that explains what the emails have to look like and where to send them to.

I've already asked them for that :-)

The have not published much info - In fact only how to configure those 3 windows programs ...

If the do not answer in reasonable time i'll take a look at the windows software and if a demo of one of those can generate an email that their software will accept it should be straight forward to "make" a spec for it.

An example of a message body

04/05/2005 15:39:37
Humidity: 46%
Temp: 11.3C
Raw Barom: 1016.50hPa
Solar: 0W/sqm
Wind Dir: 212
Wind Spd: 3mps
Wind Gust: 10mps
Tot Rain: 23.1mm

Rules:
The linechange is important most be <CR><LF>
The first has to be the date/time
The other lines does not have to be in the specific order
Lines can be omitted
It is important that there is no space between the parameter name and the ':'
It is important that there is no space between the value and the units - i.e 23.1mm
The decimal seperator should be '.'

1: Date & Time. The third character should be '/' to indicate that the mail is in the same format as "Ambient Weather station
2: Humidity, roundet to whole % - i.e no decimals
3: Air temperature with one decimal

5: Sun radiation
6: Wind direction, 10 minutes average
7: Wind speed, 10 minutes average m/s
8: Highest gust the last 10 minutes

Hello Boris,

I am also interested to have the e-mail feature included, i.e. a weather report (daily summary or weather conditions at predefined intervals) to be sent to an e-mail address. WD does it but I don't want to run the PC just to be able to send such e-mails ;-)

Thanks and kind regards,

Mario

@nimbus43:
Meteohub 4.2e realizes your request. It is handled as a special kind of data upload request on "Graph Upload" page. HTML-template mechanisms do apply, so you are widely free to choose from data to be included into the mail body.

@majland:
Having email feature also running for weather network support I could now start implementing your 3 months old request. If you are still interested, please drop a note to "info(at)meteohub.de" in order to get some details about sending protocol clarified.

Majland: Did you ever get meteohub working with DMI's Borgervejr?

If yes - how?

Sorry for interrupting, but you need to sign-up here: http://www.dmi.dk/dmi/index/danmark/bor ... elding.htm
Rest is pretty easy :D
Borgervejr does seem to be a bit unstable at the moment, but usually works fine.

I know all about signing up - I'm allready a user, but using Weather Display.

But does Meteohub support schedule email report in a way DMI understand?

Indeed it does. This: http://servlet.dmi.dk/bv/servlet/bv?sta ... param=none is being reported by meteohub. Works when DMI's mailserver does

All you need is to tick "Borgervejr" in the weather network and configure your account, then it works.

Awesome :)

I'm very tired of Weather Display (Mac version) at the moment - so many strange problems all the time...

So maybe meteohub is a great alternative, and even very green (low power consumption)

Hi

I'm also a danish user uploading to dmi.dk - borgervejr and it works just perfect.... at least when the mailserver at dmi.dk is working :?

And I must say I'm impressed with Meteohub, it's the best software I ever bought, installed it on my NSLU2 and haven't rebooted since the install ( 80 days ) !

Sound really great I think....:)

But I'll give Weather DIsplay one more chance, and perhaps use the saved money (equipment and software) on a Davis staion :D

Thank you
