What voltage/s are users typically powering Nano & NanoSD's apart from the standard spec of 300ma @ 5Volts (Black Strap) and 1A @ 5 Volts (Red strap)?
Anybody using switching regulators @ 6 Volts
How about 6.8 Volts feed from 6 Volt solar panels and battery, such as a Davis 6614 or similar?

There are capacitors on the NANO that will not like 6 volts or more. VoCore2 itself is specified until 5.5 volts.

Say would you know by chance what the actual voltage to the main voltage regulators in a Davis Console/Envoy is once through the input protection diode which I have heard drops the actual input voltage by about 0.7V before some further voltage smoothing? In other words does Davis filter the input voltage to a consistent 5V or so?

I have also read somewhere that there is a diode in between. How much voltage drop this does depends on diode technology, type, applied current and temperature. I don't have details on this. I don't think Davis is doing some active regulation to have it exactly 5v max. So it will be risky to fire 6V or more to it. However, you could add yourself some diodes with characteristics of your liking to lower voltage, or get a cheap voltage converter from aliexpress, if the voltage difference is more than just a few 100 mV. But as said, these diode cascades have voltage drops dependent from the current and temperature. So expect some pretty bad drifting.
