Slow to Read. **solved**

Post by Ed_Heaton »

I'm curious as to why my new MB Pro 2 is sooooo slow to read the data being sent from the ISS? My MR-3020 is very quick to record. Here are the MBP2 info - Meteobridge 5.7 (Aug 21 2023, build 4134), FW 1.3

Thanks...

Showing how old the last received data is. How is the Pro2 reading the sensor data, via RF? How is the MR-3020 reading data, via USB?

Yes, the Pro is getting RF signal data and yes the 3020 is using a usb… can the Pro be configured to use a usb from the Davis console? That would guarantee the data is received in a timely manner.

Yes the Pro2 can connect via USB. What is the distance between the Pro2 and the ISS? What is the Sensitivity setting under Station/Primary Station (primary). If you have a VP2 console then you could also re-transmit from that or if you had a repeater then increase signal with that.

Hi Matt and thank you for your help!!! the ISS is about 75 ft from the MBPro which should be well within reach. As for sensitivity setting it's currently set to -90db. (I honestly wasn't sure what that setting was for). If I change it which setting would be best? I do have the VP2 setting right next to the MBPro, do you think retransmit would be a good option?

thanks again!

Wouldn't expect 75 feet to be a real problem, depending if there are any walls in the way but that distance would be marginal? You could try 85 or 80db.

I have used Re-Transmit but have tended to go to a separate repeater for a few other reasons. For sure if side by side then re-transmit would increase the signal.

The Meteobridge PRO2 seems to pickup quite some noise as only abut 11% of received packets are right. Setting RF threshold down to -80db should improve this. PRO2 should also not be close to other IT equipment or within a metal cabinet as this will add to RF noise.

When you want to connect to your console via a USB logger, you have to unmark the "Use internal RF receiver" feature on "Primary Station" tab. Then you can select any station on primary station to connect with.

Thanks Boris and I wish this reply had come sooner. I sent my MB Pro 2 back to Ambient Weather because of this receiving issue with the ISS.
