Meteobridge suddenly doesn't accept ISS (vantage vue) data

Post by dave_one »

Hi Meteohub group! Super forum with lots of great information. I write in English as this subforum mainly appears to be English. Feel free to write in German. :-)

I have a Plus USB hub with Weatherstick and MB installed (bought as a ready installed bundle) and a Vantage Vue Integrated Sensor Suite (ISS), no console. It operates remote and produces consistent uploads. I have the following problem but the company selling the Meteostick/ISS couldn't help:

Some time ago, the weather data from some of the ISS sensors seemed to stop. Both Wind direction, wind speed AND rain sensor. The unit is internally clean. Resetting and changing the battery didn't help.
The MB shows the sensors as "green", but doesn't get updated data. It seems odd, that all these sensors should fail simultaneously on an "M" model (newest type ISS that isn't so old), while ext temperature and humidity still is working?
Are there any tests or resets I can do on the MB or do I have to invest in a new Davis ISS?

On "Live Data" tab you can see that data is coming in fine. Nevertheless, having a reception rate of just 13% is rather poor. How far away are the vue sensors from Meteobridge?

Thanks admin! Well, it's about 3m from the top of the hangar metal roof down to the Meteobridge. It has always been like this, no new hardware / electronics have been installed, and the problem also persists with the Vue sensors next to the Meteobridge.
Since data comes in fine, my idea was that the individual sensors or cabling have ceased to work, but this shouldn't be a problem with the type of newer ISS?

As long as "Raw Sensor Data" tab shows recent data for wind, outdoor, rain Meteobridge receives data fine, there should not be any problem. When sensors there are rendered red, RF data reception has an issue. As you are picking up much noise (just 13% of packets are valid) and sensors show up with -82db or better, I recommend to set your reception threshold to -85db instead of -90db.

Thank you!
Strange though that SOME of the ISS sensors don't update, but the rest does just fine?
Do you mean by "reception threshold" that I change the sensitivity setting, or that I physically change the position of the ISS / Meteostick to get a better dB readout?
I will come back to you over the weekend when I have physical access to the site again.

Change the sensitivity setting, in your above image "Weather Station (primary)", change Sensitivity: -90db to -85db

Thank you for the explanations.
It didn't change much: The new values show a -48db value for the wind sensors and -54db for the rain sensor.
Strangely the wind-direction now works, but neither the wind speed nor rain sensor gives any output.
The OAT (temperature) sensor and humidity have shown OK values all the time, so can it really be the reception threshold? Could anything else be adjusted?

Did you check with a Davis console that the Vue sensor array is sending the data correctly? I could also be an issue with the sensor array.

Unfortunately I don't have a Davis console, otherwise it would have been much easier in finding WHERE the error lies (ISS or meteobridge). I bought this as a bundle without a console.
It seems strange that SOME of the external ISS sensors work, but not all of them? With the newer kind ISS this shouldn't be a problem, as all sensors are interconnected. :?
