Meteobridge displaying wrong baro from Tempest

Post by Paul Gee »

I have a TL-MR3020 meteohub using Meteobridge 5.7 (Oct 22 2023, build 15082), FW 1.5.

The Tempest is reporting 1021 hpa while MB is reporting 1032.8.

The altitude is set correctly as is the lat/long, i cant figure out what is going on here.

Are you sure you set the height to the same value (3464) and the same unit (feet) in your Meteobridge and your WeatherFlow website/install?

The Tempest/Weatherflow devices/Website "adept" the measured values for pressure, rain and others before displaying those.
https://help.weatherflow.com/hc/en-us/a ... ystem-FAQs
How is pressure displayed?
The value displayed on the station home screen of the app is sea level pressure. Also known as relative pressure or barometric pressure, this is an adjusted value based on temperature and total height above sea level (elevation + height above ground).

Station pressure or atmospheric pressure is measured directly by the sensor. This pressure value is not of much use to people, unless for some reason you want to know what the actual pressure is at your house (maybe for brewing beer, baking bread or engine tuning?). Station pressure is displayed in the list view in the app.
Their "NearCast" technology is described here
Also, in their tools/website, they "discard" values which "seem incorrect" and show data from other (official) stations instead.

You should "fetch" the values from your station directly in your local network
https://weatherflow.github.io/Tempest/api/udp/v171/
Then you know for sure which value is the real value measured in your weatherflow device.

I checked your WU-dashboard and your PWS_Dashboard and see large "swings" in measured pressure values.
Yesterday Oct 24:
7:04 PM 1,030.14 hPa
7:09 PM 899.09 hPa
7:14 PM 1,032.17 hPa
similar values of 1,032 hPa until
8:34 PM 1,032.85 hPa
8:39 PM 901.46 hPa for 20 minutes then back to a normal value
8:59 PM 1,032.85 hPa

- - - -

You can also calculate the values using this tool
The calculation show 899 station pressure equals to 1032 Sea level pressure which shows your Meteobridge correctly

Thanks for your reply,

Yep, Ive quadruple checked those values (probably more), the large variations you see are from myself trying all kinds of things to try and pinpoint what the issue is or are.

I have an Accurite Iris system next to the Tempest and this agrees with the tempest raw data and uploads the correct data to Weather underground via its own server.

Both the Accurtite and Tempest report the same sea level pressure as the local METAR so I can confirm they are correct, I just cant work out what Meteobridge is doing to report inconsistently.

@Paul: Can you please give me remote access to your Meteobridge? Please send credentials to "info(at)meteobridge.com".

I did changes to how sealevel pressure is calculated for Tempest (no longer depending on outdoor temp) and also for PurpleAir (had not had any sealevel calculation so far). Please give it a try.
