Meteobridge PRO Balck with Vantage Pro 2 on Retransmit. **solved**

Post by cwmalmanac »

I set up my Meteobridge PRO Black five years ago to receive data directly from the VP ISS:

But due to the signal being poor (-70db), which I suspect is making it under-report some rainfall compared to the VP2 Console, I decided to move it further from the ISS and closer to the VP2 Console. I enabled retransmit on the VP2 Console:

Then I changed the MeteoBridge Pro Black station settings to retransmit (circled):

But I was expecting something to change in the device pick list. There is only one option MH113, the same as before. And now the signal is worse (-86db), which makes me wonder if the data is coming via the VP2 Console at all.

Is anyone else using "retransmit" successfully; if so, what settings do you have?

First up it is not a MBPro Black as the MBPro Black does not have any RF capability.

What you need to do is change the Transmitter# ID to that of the ID # of the re-transmit as the re-transmit ID# is different to the ID# used by the ISS

Apologies, of course you are correct. It is a "Meteobridge Pro" which is red. Sorry.

Thank you for directing me to the transmitter section of the Primary Station tab. I therefore re-read https://wiki.meteobridge.com/wiki/index ... ion/en. I think I have configured it correctly now, but for others' benefit I describe my first and then second attempts below.

Firstly, I added 3 transmitters which seemed to span all the ISS measurements (rainfall, temperature/humidity, and wind speed/direction), since "outdoor' didn't seem to be a new option:

Image

I then looked at live data, and saw the new rain transmitter is showing up (0 Rain, -34db); the others are not there:

So secondly, I reverted the changes by removing the additional 3 transmitters, and instead added 1 new ISS transmitter:

Image

The live data looks like it is receiving all the information from the retransmit (Rain#2, Wind#2 and Outdoor#2) with -34, -38 and -34db respectively:

I am now looking at the mappings to ensure I use the correct values in my export services. I need to read up on that a bit more first so I know what I am doing.

But thank you for your quick assistance which has increased my understanding :D . Kind regards.

I don't think you need the ID#1 ISS config if that is the VP ISS?

If say you had the VP2 console configured an ISS (ID#1), Wind station (ID#2), Temp station (ID#3) etc then you could set the Retransmit to say ID#4 and that's about all an MB with settings: receive RF data via console (retransmit) would need to pick up on ID#4 only

Thank you for mentioning this. It gave me confidence to delete ID#1.

The new ID#2 replicates my previous setup, but using the retransmitted data. And thus there was no need to change any MB mappings, MB services, or my other code downstream which consumes the data.

I may have a play with splitting up the transmitters into separate channels as you mention.

Many thanks for your excellent help and suggestions.
