SAMBA performance

Post by thunderstorm »

Recently the performance for the SMB share got pretty worse. Sometimes it feels that accessing the share (copying backups, reading files) slow down the http processing of the web interface. It heavily affecting my wxsim runs, since it depends on some data generated on the meteobridge. Also moving the db-backups takes very long.

Had a quick look with "top" and the process is using quite some cpu (just a snapshot during a copy, not sure what the normal load would be)

Code: Select all

10760 1131 root R 3544 3% 87% /usr/sbin/smbd -F
I guess there haven't been updates to samba or the network stack ? Any ideas how to debug this ?

I had slow SMB performance on NANOs sometimes, when WLAN is weak. Are you operating a MB NANO?

Sorry, yes it's a nano SD.

The AP is close and seems well connected I haven't moved any of the devices and also all other clients don't have any problems with connectivity.
And I didn't update the AP FW for a while, so it's a but weird that the performance changed that drastically.
