Downgrading Meteobridge PRO2

Post by raniemi »

Hey Folks,

I'm having problems finding the answers I need in the forums and the web. It's been challenging since I currently have spotty internet access, only a few hours over the next several days to fix this, and if I can't fix it, I won't be able to work on it again for another year (or two).

Basically, I *think* my meteobridge is running 6.1. I'm not sure what version was "last good" since my internet gateway died in the last two years and my MBP must have auto updated as soon as I fixed the IGW in the last few days. I am unable to connect to the /cgi-bin/meteobridge app (i.e. the redirect path) over wifi, but had better luck when running as an AP... however, now I can't open the app over AP either.

I tried doing a number of factory resets, waiting a while, and I still can't get the app to run.

Perhaps on the bright side, I'm able to connect to luci, but I have no idea how to:

* Download a 6.0 or lower version of the meteobridge firmware (URL?)
* Flash my Meteobridge PRO2 with said firmware (instructions?)

Any help/guidance is greatly appreciated

No idea with Luci, then stay away from Luci and don't complicate the issue.

The only reason a MBP will auto is if you had set it to auto update. Can you access the MBP System>Administration tab?

Are you trying to run over WiFi or Ethernet?

Obviously your internet access is a major downside.

Hey @Mattk,

When running in AP mode, I get the following error when I try connecting to the MBP application:
Not Found
The requested URL /cgi-bin/meteobridge was not found on this server.
With that said, I can't get to the MBP System > Administration tab. This will ultimately run as a Wifi client, but I won't be able to change it until the MBP application starts up successfully again.

EDIT: basically, my only interface right now is the PIN hole to toggle factory resets or starting the MBP in WIFI AP mode.

I would try to sort the issues out with an ethernet connection as your WiFi sounds a bit fuzzy?

Also not sure if there are any issues with FW6.1? Have had this version running on a unit since 16/12/2024 and have not noted any issues.

Certainly some weirdness going on. Another challenge is that I can't force Ethernet/LAN using the pin (although I can "Reboot LAN"). Plugging into ethernet does not get IP from DHCP either (guessing it's because it's set to WIFI or AP in the meteobridge app -- which I can't currently access).

There should be no reason for Ethernet not to connect as per the getting started instructions based on an out of the box factory default/reset?

The "no reason" was a good hint -- I was using a WiFi router that wasn't my own (at a vacation rental). I think the Ethernet jacks are locked down (not getting an IP).

After piecing together the following:
MBP (resetted) <- Ethernet <- LTE Router (mine) <- Wireless <- Laptop (mine)
The MBP is now able to get an IP over Ethernet. However, I'm still getting the same error I'm getting over WiFi.

The connection between my LTE Router and the Internet may not be stable enough. I'll have to drive out to the site and plug into the antenna and try again over cellular. Maybe the meteobridge app/image is not getting downloaded properly.

Just an update for future prosperity: I was able to get the meteobridge app installed back on the MBP by sharing my laptop's internet over ethernet. To protect myself from future mishap, I also made sure this time to select the option under System > Administration to "use the installed version" -- basically to guard against the case that the internet connection I'm working with is problematic.

Thanks for the debugging assist @Mattk!

Yep that's the way to go, run with [use installed version] or [stick to version x.] and manually [get newest on boot] as required, reboot then set to Version Control preference operation. Typically won't get hung up this way when one doesn't want it to get hung up.
