MB-PRO2 WIFI Disconnects - Solved
My MBPRO2 has started to disconnect from the WIFI more and more until it only stays connected for a few seconds. Power is normal 5.15 to 5.17 volts during the disconnects. Tried different router, same issue. Reboot / re-powering the MBPRO2 will allow for several minutes to connect to the WIFI then only shows up for a few seconds at a time after that. The LAN port works fine. My backup MBPRO2 stays connected to the same router without issue.
Any suggestions on a possible fix?

Re: MB-PRO2 WIFI Disconnects
Does "dmesg" issued from SSH console tell anything related to WiFi?
Are "db" ratings different between the two PRO2 when you select WiFi SSID drop-down menu on "Network" tab?
Is the correct antenna mounted (right antenna when looking from the back)? Please compare male/female with the one from the other PRO2.

Re: MB-PRO2 WIFI Disconnects
dmesg doesn't show any WIFI info. DB for the backup MBPRO2 that is working is -29db and the newest MBPRO2 is -34db. Antennas are in the correct locations.
Should I switch back to WIFI then run dmesg again if I can get connected after switching?

Re: MB-PRO2 WIFI Disconnects
The received signal at the router for the MBPRO2 is one bar. MBPRO2 received shows -29db. Checked in networking and its set to full power both antennas. Swapped antennas with the backup MBPRO2 and no change.
After rebooting to WIFI dmesg shows this.

Re: MB-PRO2 WIFI Disconnects
Is there anything special with your WLAN?
- AP is automatically switching channels to operate on the ones looking least used?
- Meshing or handover between APs with the same SSID?

Re: MB-PRO2 WIFI Disconnects
Nothing Special, AC1900 Router, Permanently on channel 11, One outdoor AP permanently on channel 6 with its own SSID. No Mesh, No neighboring WIFI networks, All static IP addresses. Only weather devices use the 2.4GHz WIFI network. The Older MB-PRO2 and the NANO-SD have no connectivity issues.

Re: MB-PRO2 WIFI Disconnects
Update, I purchased a new AX10000 router to replace the AC1900. I figured maybe a new router might fix the issue. Now the new MBPRO2 and old MBPRO2 will not stay connected. The NANO-SD connects as it always has done as long as the MBPRO2's are on the LAN. I switched back to the AC1900, still both MBPRO2s connect for a few seconds then disconnect for a while. Both of the MBPRO2's stay online on the LAN. I noticed while the MBPRO2 is on the wlan the purpleair also cannot connect. Moved the MBPRO2 to the LAN the purpeair reconnects. I tried with the printer and the MBPRO2's on the wlan and it knocks the printer offline. With one or both of the MBPRO2's on the wlan it is unusable. This all started after a brief power interruption and has just gone down hill. I need to figure out what the MBPRO2 is doing while on the wlan. Any tools I can use to gather the necessary information to post here?
Re: MB-PRO2 WIFI Disconnects
Don't connect the Ethernet port of the PROs, when you operate them via WiFi.
Does your router switch WLAN channels on the fly or operates a MESH network?
What is the DB reading on the SSID drop-down on the Meteobridge Network tab?

Re: MB-PRO2 WIFI Disconnects
Router is set to channel 11 manual, Mesh is disabled, No mesh devices. I switch the ax10000 to low power.
From the drop down,
Older MBPRO2 (-33db, ch 11)
Newer MBPRO2 (-39db, ch 11)
I have tested with the LAN connected. Made no difference.
Next test I am going remove the NANO-SD from the network by switching the NANO to AP and switching the newer MBPRO2 back to WLAN. Will post the results.

Re: MB-PRO2 WIFI Disconnects
With just the newer MBPRO2 on the WLAN. 3 minutes is the maximum time connected. Dmesg doesn't report the additional connects and disconnects.

Re: MB-PRO2 WIFI Disconnects - Solved
I switch the router from channel 11 to channel 1. All the weather devices are back on the 2.4GHz WIFI and staying connected. Switched back to the AC1900 and all devices up and online again on channel 1. Has something to do with channel 11.
Re: MB-PRO2 WIFI Disconnects - Solved
Thanks for finding out and sharing here. I have no clue what the issue with channel 11 is about, but may be it is something local, some interferences? Just guessing.Mitch56338 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 09, 2025 4:17 pm I switch the router from channel 11 to channel 1. All the weather devices are back on the 2.4GHz WIFI and staying connected.
