Feature Request FTPS with Passive mode
Hi Boris,
because my website's hosting provider stopped supporting the FTP protocol and now supports FTPS with Passive mode, I would be very happy if meteobridge could support the above protocol in a future upgrade.
Thank you very much

Re: Feature Request FTPS with Passive mode
Also having issues with FTP and service/system providers really tightening down on FTP even while not supporting/providing SFTP (Plesk Panel being one example) and as with most standards, the main difference being there's so many standards. SFTP is more widely used than FTPS and maybe it is the ISP's that need to lift their game?

Kostas, this may work, but requires a windows pc in the middle as a file handler:
https://www.emtec.com/pyrobatchftp/index.html
PyrobatchFTP, it has a 30 day free evaluation license. Download the server version; the client version requires a user to remained logged in, the server version can run as a system account

Re: Feature Request FTPS with Passive mode
Thanks a lot for the suggestion
Is there any freeware program that can do the same job?
The best solution would be for Boris to add the FTPS protocol to meteobridge!

Re: Feature Request FTPS with Passive mode
Free Methods (Both are raw and untested)
WinSCP script:
https://blog.skufel.net/2011/12/automa ... ng-winscp/
Python Script:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/71 ... ing-python
Pay Method:
60 Euros for Pyrobatch (expensive but without the headaches)
Pyrobatch looks like it uses a WinSCP script for most of its functions; there are dozens of free WinSCP scripts on GitHub, might find a free solution there as well.

Re: Feature Request FTPS with Passive mode
Thank you again!
I hope the developer adds FTPS to meteobridge so I don't have to add a PC in addition to the Rpi4
I.e. I preferred to buy meteobridge and install it on the low-power Rpi4 instead of using a computer.

Re: Feature Request FTPS with Passive mode
I assume your provider will also provide SFTP instead and this is supported by Meteobridge.

«I assume your provider will also provide SFTP instead and this is supported by Meteobridge».
Unfortunately my provider only supports the FTPS protocol with passive mode as informed me by e-mail.
However, before posting I tried SFTP without result though!
I would like to avoid adding a computer to my existing equipment (meteobridge, meteostick, RPi4)
Can I hope that in a next update you will add FTPS?
Thank you very much

Man, you two are like Putin and Zelenskyy

I guess any hopes of getting help with this are not good: https://forum.meteohub.de/viewtopic.php?t=18825

Re: Feature Request FTPS with Passive mode
Sorry, this is not funny but simply extremely disgusting. How can you dare to compare the democratic elected president with a dictator who is brutally invading its neighbouring smaller country and put these on the same level for comparison? Even worse, how can you dare to compare me or someone else in this forum with Putin. You crossed a line here with this stupid and ignorant comment.

I was only referring to a standstill in negotiation's, neither will budge. There was no attempt to liken you or anyone else to either character morally or otherwise, it was a comparative that reflects the state of negotiations and that is all.admin wrote: ↑Sun Aug 31, 2025 7:52 pmSorry, this is not funny but simply extremely disgusting. I spent 10 years in uniform serving under NATO, facing me on the other side of the wall was Putin along with his Stasi scum. I also served in uniform freeing parts of Eastern Europe from Soviet and post Soviet dictators. I don’t need a lecture on the evils of Stalinist dictators, and I did my part, including putting my life on the line,
Had you acted like a man and simply sent me a PM, explained that you were offended, I would have apologized and removed the post. However, you chose to publicly respond in a hostile and bullying manner over a misinterpretation of language.

No mate that 's a BS uncalled for and half smart comment relative to the forum and discussion. You need to stick to the subject.AA5H_AX088 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 31, 2025 2:31 pm Man, you two are like Putin and Zelenskyy

Re: Feature Request FTPS with Passive mode
In meteobridge, the 7 events I have unfortunately do not display data on my page, only the code, due to the absence of the FTPS protocol
But the transmission of data to certain weather networks also shows problems! Note.
Several hosting providers are gradually replacing ftp with SFTP or FTPS for security reasons. For meteobridge to be fully usable, I believe that in addition to SFTP, it should also support FTPS in the next upgrade

Re: Feature Request FTPS with Passive mode
1) In general you should not work with many retries (like 20) when you feed tons of weather networks.
2) The upload errors mostly tell what the reason is, so you can work with this to fix your errors on the user side
3) Your page shows unresolved template variables. Here it looks like not the upload being the problem, but the wrong file/data being uploaded.
You are trying too much in parallel as a beginner. I would recommend to progress in smaller steps to allow you learning incrementally.
FTPS is rather complicated and mainly based on key exchanges being setup beforehand. Many users will have massive problems playing around with keys. Smaller platforms (MR3020 and alike) are already on their limits in regard to RAM, so they will hardly handle additional SSL stacks. Therefore, Meteobridge will stick with SFTP which reuses the SSH libs which are already installed.

I understand the difficulties that smaller platforms (MR3020 and similar) will have with the FTPS protocol.
However, the RPI3 and RPI4 devices are more powerful and do not face memory problems.
Could there be a version of meteobridge only for RPi devices that supports the FTPS protocol in the future?
