Meteobridge Pro Red changed to MeteoBridgo Pro (black)

Post by TheoH »

After update firmware from 6.1 to 6.2 my normal functioning MeteoBridge Pro Red changed to a MeteoBridge Pro (black) with the result of no direct connectivity with the sensors of my Davis Vantage Pro station. Tried different setup with station etc., no joy. Revert back to 6.1 no change , stays as Meteobridge Pro. Anybody else noticed this and how to solve the issue?

It has nothing to do with the SW update. I fear the internal USB hub chip might be gone. Can you please share a screen dump of "System - Info" tab to inspect this?

Not recognizing the internal USB storage which normally displays between RAM & SW Version.

On the Database tab, Maintenance box there is a Database Media option to select either [Internal USB Storage], [USB Stick on front panel] or [USB Stick on back panel]. Plugging a USB stick to front or back panel and changing the respective Database Media: option might show if it's just the internal USB or USB in general issue?

Tried different USB sticks in front, changed database settings to USB stick front and reboot (multiple times). I think, as you mentioned it is a USB general issue. On the display the error: not able to format etc. and not recognizing the USB sticks. I checked the internal USB, and seems OK. What I really don't understand is that it did occur after the SW update to 6.2 or 6.3

just reading post by yamahabest with the same issue. Also after updating to 6.2 what a coincidence

going through the forum and checking multiple messages, I noticed quite a few messages of members with a problematic METEOBridge Pro red after softwareupdate to 6.2. Most of the time the moderators reply is "I fear the internal USB hub chip might be gone" .
Of course It might be coincidental or the electronics are of same age or a certain badge and worn out but it is worth checking in the SW etc. for future updates. I am not saying this as criticism, just as an observation.

My observation is that some of the used USB hub chips have issues being initialized when having a certain age or use pattern. This shows up after a reboot. Installing a new SW version does imply a reboot and then the issue occurs while it less likely shows up in ongoing operation. However, this is rather annoying but nothing I can solve on the SW side. I had to change quite some USB hub chips from faulty PROs and good news is that once having the chip replaced this issue does not show up again. So far I never had a defective PRO with an already changed USB hub chip.
