Dashboard without flash (statement, not question)

Post by mikeo »

I've been using MeteoHub for a significant amount of time (at least 8 years) and have always needed to find a workaround for the WDlive flash dashboard. FreshWDL only worked for 80% of what I needed/wanted to do, and I had also resorted to using a flash-proxy for my Apple devices. Now that the flash proxy (Puffin) no longer works, I've spent the past month researching and implementing various solutions get get a functional dashboard that I like.

I finally found a dashboard that works with the clientraw.txt file generated by MeteoHub and isn't dependent on flash: Personal Weather Station Dashboard (PWS_Dashboard) by Wim van der Kuil. It's available for download here:
https://pwsdashboard.com/

I don't know if I stumbled on this in my previous searches, but it appears that the dashboard recently switched from requiring a SQL database to just using raw file access. The setup was very simple and works with my very complicated implementation of weather hardware and software.

To see Wim's awesome dashboard in action, take a look at the examples on his website linked above, or here's my weather station dashboard:

If you're looking for an alternative to WDlive that isn't flash based, the php solution of Personal Weather Station Dashboard is top-notch.

Hi mikeo,

Same story here — losing the flash WDlive sent me hunting for alternatives too, and PWS_Dashboard is genuinely excellent (Wim does great work).

Full disclosure: I'm the developer of another flash-free option, WS40. It's a WordPress plugin that reads your realtime.txt and publishes the dashboard with
shortcodes — works fine on phones and tablets, no flash anywhere.

If you'd like to see the look of it, there's a live no-signup demo of the new HUD view here:

Just another option to throw in the mix — curious what you think.
