Do we already have first SheevaPlug users? I would be interested in feedback, as setup of the equipment might be a bit troublesome and I would also be delighted to get some help in finding more bugs on this new Meteohub port.
So please, step into the light
P.S.: I hope Globalscale could solve their back order problems by now, so you won't have to wait 6 weeks or more until it gets shipped.
Is there anybody out there?

Good Luck!
I guess the hardest step will be flashing SheevaPlug's uboot to make it booting the SD card.
When going through the instructions below you might go the way of manually specifying the MAC instead of reading the values from flash which fails quite often at my rig.

Have fun!

Re:Is there anybody out there?
Hi Guys,
I am very new to the weather station (since July) complex and have some questions on using the new port with Meteohub:
I want to use my WMR200 with SheevaPlug and Metehub, but can I flash the SD-card with Windows, or is there at the moment only the possibility with Linux?
Also I heard the price for the SheevaPlug will be falling in the next few months, so should I wait? And how much will be the difference?
How much will be the shipping cost to Europe?
Hope that are not too much questions... :)

Re:Is there anybody out there?
don´t know about Sheeva´s install process, but it seems you´ll need at least a Linux Live CD to get it done.
Shipping is quite expensive, their website says 37€ to Germany, that would be a third of what the total unit costs. Strange that there´s no distributor in Europe.

Hi,
I think it's worth the money even with the high shipping charges!!!
You also have to buy a decent SDHC SD-Card at lest Class-4, Class-6 recommended.
About the Live Linux CD that you muss use, i'll write a tutorial for you guys and post it here so you can follow step by step how to get it done under Linux, it's simple.

I already have a SDHC-Card, but I read something about the speed here: http://computingplugs.com/index.php/She ... throughputON1DQD wrote:Hi,

It seems, that this person upgraded the kernel and made a mmc-patch (do not know what this is...) to speed up.
Nice to hear, that you will provide a walk through, because I am a Linux noob (Every year I want to change from Windows to Linux, but...)

Re:Is there anybody out there?
A little late to the party, but I successfully convinced a co-worker to order a Plug to use with his Davis Vantage Pro2 unit on top of his office building here in Anchorage Alaska.
Initial install today went well enough. A few little blips here and there (I was used to the Marvell alpha-6 and now 1.0 installer process) but it seems to be working fine.
Ironically, when I tried to un-rar the filesystem image on Ubuntu 9.04, the Archiver app told me it was an unsupported file type (despite being listed in the help file as supported). I looked in Synaptic took a guess at what other package I needed to load and off I went.
Any chance you will port your installer to work on Windows the way Marvell did?
I am pretty new to both the plug and weather stations, so I'll try my best to RTFM before I post silly questions later on.
Thanks

Re:Is there anybody out there?
Hello.
I have ordered two of the sheva's some months ago. As they cam to slovenia, the company, that is working with fedex in slo, wanted to charge me for giving me the box additional 80€. So I rejected the box, and they have given me back my money (sheva). They wanted that money for the two day, the box was there, and manipulating costs...
So now I wonder if there is someone maybe form the usa here in the forum who would order one (or better two) shevas to his adress and then send it to me by normal post. I can also orde and pay them directly at sheva, and they will deliver them to you.
What were the costs to germany?
If there is someone, who would be willing to do that for me, please contact me.
Cheers!
