Safe to remove SAMBA?

Hi,

Is it safe to remove SAMBA from the MH running on SheevaPlug? I've never used it...and would like to get rid of running modules I do not use... Just not sure if it will hurt MH or not?

That should do no harm.

I am getting now the message "Error file open: /var/run/smbd.pid: No such file or directory". Is it safe to leave it or sth can be done to fix it?

That is just a warning, as Meteohub checks for samba running. Just ignore it.
