USB Video Grabber as Webcam?

Hi there,
I am thinking about buying Meteohub and using a Ebox 3300 together with Meteohub. I would like to use a standard video camera as a Webcam, connected to Meteohub using a USB video grabber. Is there any devices that are compatible with Meteohub?

Ich überlege mir Meteohub für meine Ebox 3300 zu kaufen, würde jedoch gerne wissen ob es möglich ist meine Videokamera als Webcam verwenden. Ich hatte geplant eine USB Videokarte zu verwenden um die Videokamera mit Meteohub zu verwenden. Meine Frage: Gibt es eine USB Videokarte die mit Meteohub kompatibel ist? Oder natürlich mehrere?

Not sure about the Ebox. I play quite a lot with the SheevaPlug. On the Sheeva you can install MOTION by executing:

apt-get install motion

and then enable lan access by editing the file
/etc/motion/motion.conf
and changing
webcam_localhost off

after this you can access the attached USB camera from other network clients by going to http://<sheeva-ip>:8081

MOTION is one of the best webcam servers. Chances are it runs on the Ebox too.

Thanks for your answer. Even though MOTION sounds like a great tool, I was thinking about something else.



Connecting a Camcorder (Not a Webcam) to Meteohub using one of those USB Video Grabbers where you can plug in any video or S-video cable.

Could one of those work with Meteohub?
