V.2.2 / Vantage Pro 2: 603 mm rain ??? **solved**

Post by Thgonline »

After updating to V2.2 meteohub shows some strange \"tropical\" rain values ;-)

day1_rain0_total_mm 603.4

( VP2 console: 5.2 mm)

Are there any preferences to be changed after the update ?
* Takes all types of rain collectors for Vantage into account (0.1 mm, 0.2mm, 0.01inch).
\"wind0_gustspeedmax\" parameters are still lower than VP2's \"day high\"....

day1_wind0_gustspeedmax_kmh 28.8
( VP2 console day high: 37 km/h)

a) the tropical rain thing:
Meteohub does now (hopefully) correct computation of total rain fall. The sensor readings have to be multiplied with the size of the rain bucket in the rain sensor. The documentation provided by Davis is wrong on this! Meteohub now takes this into account. As a result when starting using 2.2 the total rain value might change dramatically once. You can eliminate this one-time effect by using the \"inspect data\" function of Meteohub and deleting the first of the new (higher) rain readings. Having marked this as deleted the increase in total rain will be ignored.

Please give this a try, it should solve the problem.

b) The difference in gust speed is still not solved. No idea what's going wrong. What is the actual day for VP2? meteohub takes values from 0:00 until 23:59. VP2 too?

a) Also tried \"eliminating\" one-time effects by using the \"inspect data\" function of Meteohub and deleting the first of the new (higher) rain readings (incl. recomputing agg. weather data). But even without precipitation new 100mm rain peaks appear ?

b) VP2 console seems to change \"day highs\" @ midnight too. Actual values (2008/03/26)

day1_wind0_gustspeedmax_kmh 16.2
VP2 console: 18 km/h Image

Rain values are still \"tropical\" ;-)
(Constant ca. 100mm peaks ??) Image

It turned out at that
a) an unstable connection to the usb vantage that causes restarts of the communication to the weather station every couple of minutes
b) and a random recognition of rain collector size
was adding virual rain.

Both is solved with V2.2b
