FYI: NSLU2 Discontinued

Post by bsparks »

I believe as of March 15, 2008, Linksys has announced that the NSLU2 is discontinued. Sad news for everyone. Now might be a good time to pick up a spare or two, as Amazon still carries them. All information on Linksys' web site is archival only.

Perhaps we can look forward to a Meteohub port to other hardware? Maybe that incredibly useful ASUS eeePC I have will eventually turn out to be even more useful... :-)

There are quite a few NSLU2 in the market, so as long as you don't go for buying lots of them it shouldn't be a problem to get your fingers on one during 2008.

However, don't worry... Meteohub project will go on, I am working on a port to another hardware - when bug fixing does give me some spare time ;-)

Hi everyone,

Do you know of other gadgets similar to this 'special' one?

I mean, really low cost, low energy consumption, no ventilation needed, zero noise , programmable, etc.

Hope you do, or some company launches a similar one... It's so cute!

I've got a koolu (http://chasblogspot.blogspot.com/2007/0 ... ux-pc.html)
which I really dig...5-10 watts during operation and it runs x86 binaries no problem. 4 USB ports makes it very versatile too. 80GB drive options (I am sure you can go bigger w/ laptop drives). Best part: no fans...silent.

would love to see a apt-get repository (ships w/ Ubuntu) for meteohub.
