In case not, I'll mention that on another Forum I'm on new members can't post till an administrator has approved membership. That way it is usually pretty easy to spot and reject the potential spammers before they get started and without the need for moderation of individual posts. That forum uses "smf" (Simple Machines?) rather than phpBB, but maybe there is a similar facility?
