Ecowitt GW1000 and Meteobridge

Re: Ecowitt GW1000 and Meteobridge
I've spoken to Boris. He is working on a lot things at the moment. This issue is on the list but not at the very top.
Most interestingly he has identified a problem with the Ecowitt firmware. The Meteobridge establishes a TPC/IP connection with the GW1000 and it keeps this connection open. It seems that after some time the GW1000 severs the connection...hence the lost data until the Meteobridge notices this and restarts the connection.
This explains why other software like Cumulus MX and Weather-Display are not having this issue. What it means is that these other software have implemented a more resource intensive method of always establishing a fresh connection with the GW1000 for every data update. Different styles of programming by each software developer and neither method is better, just a difference in resource prioritization and source code management.
We'll just have to be patient. Boris believes that a workaround may be possible....but perhaps now that we now more the onus could be laid upon Ecowitt to fix this data connection termination that started to occur with firmware 1.5.9. I will be working with Ecowitt to look into the disconnection issue.
I hope that we all learn from this and be more patient and civil when issues arise rather than to be so quick to cast stones.

Anyone notice meteobridge not seeing rain data from GW1000? Fine on the GW1000 side.

Nope, not having that problem. I suggest power cycling your hardware. (Running Meteobridge 4.3 (Jun 11 2020, build 13534), FW 1.4)

Re: Ecowitt GW1000 and Meteobridge
I'll try that.
I'm using TL-WR902ACV3 Meteobridge.

Re: Ecowitt GW1000 and Meteobridge
Without using a GW1000 myself it is not that easy to find, how and why the GW1000 sometimes drops the TCPIP connection. I have implemented a rapid rebuild of the connection when these "zero data" errors occur (which in my understanding is an indicator for a dropped connection).
Anybody out here, who is willing to give me remote access so that I can test the code?

Power cycled GW1000 and Meteobridge. Still no rain data.

You can have access to my one if you want. Just tell me how to give you access.admin wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 6:58 pm Without using a GW1000 myself it is not that easy to find, how and why the GW1000 sometimes drops the TCPIP connection. What sensors do you have for rain? WH65 or WH40? ...or WH24?

That is a WH65. Same as what I have. Try to re-register sensor in WS View app.

Re: Ecowitt GW1000 and Meteobridge
Re-registered the outdoor WH65. Still no rain.
Then I disabled all sensors in the GW1000 except the outdoor WH65. Now the rain data is back. So, the problem must be with having all the other sensors in use. Maybe a sensor is causing problems, maybe I have too many sensors for the meteobridge to handle.
Outdoor WH65, 8x temp/hum, 4x leak, 1x PM2.5 and a lightning detector. Now I'll start to reintroduce sensors and see what happens.

Re: Ecowitt GW1000 and Meteobridge
Ive discovered that the no rain data issue is caused by the WH55 water leak sensors. When I disable the 4 leak sensors; the meteobridge can read rain data from the GW1000. If I re-enable any of the leak sensors; the rain data cannot be read by the meteobridge.
So my meteobridge fix wishlist is :
1. Read the WH57 Lightning detection sensor data
2. Read the WH55 Water leak sensor data (Normal/Leak) (I have 4 of these). Or at least fix the missing rain data issue when the leak sensors are enabled.
3. Fix upload data gaps
