Ok lads, where is this mystery file extension coming from, I have never seen (.gz) before. They have always been .upd files and I joined back last year.

So the rule seems to, do not,not apply anything other than the .upd extensions, until we here from Boris, not that there will be any updates before he comes back from holiday.
I don't know why you talk about a 2.6.16 version, when version 2.6.16 , AFAIK, has never been issued!
If I'm not wrong versions are always [v_number][.][s_number][letter] where s_number is one digit.

So, may be you are mixing meteohub updates with other stuff?

Or am I wrong?

Well, on the main page for my meteohub, it says version 2.6.16... so thats what I have.

I just got back into town and played w/ this some more.. to no avail. I've tried moving the file to different locaitons, renaming the file... about everything I can think of. I just keep getting something to the effect of

File "/data/transfer/u.upd" successfully transferred.
Error: Update cannot be extracted or installed.

I'm out of ideas?

Here is what I enter exactly to get it to work. The file has to be on your USB stick on the meteohub in the transfer directory based on how I got it to work...

Ooch. I think I know what teh issue is now...

This is what I have:

Linux/SlugOS: 2.6.16
MeteoHub: Version 2.0 (c)2008 by Boris Pasternak, info@meteohub.de

I'm guessing I need to run some previous updates to get
this to work now?

Yes - you have to go to V2.6 before updating to V2.7.

I had that same problem....you may even have to
go to V2.3 first - then 2.6 then 2.7...

The uploads state what version you can update from...

Good luck!!!

This is what I have:

Linux/SlugOS: 2.6.16
MeteoHub: Version 2.0 (c)2008 by Boris Pasternak, info@meteohub.de
That is precisely your problem. On the download page for each version of Meteohub there are specific instructions telling you what versions you are able to update to this version from.

That is the part that reads (for v2.7):
Applicable to the Versions:
* Meteohub V2.6 - V2.6g
So to update to v2.7 you need to first be running v2.6. Going back a step, to update to v2.6 you need v2.1 or higher.

However, looking back on the download page it appears there is no simple way to update from v2.0 to any of the more recent versions available. You will most likely need to perform a clean installation of the v2.6 USB stick image and then update that to v2.7. (This is probably the preferred course of action anyway, since v2.0 is so out-of-date that it probably has a lot of cruft that will clutter up any updated system.)

When your system is stil at linux kernel 2.6.16 you
have to do a reflash of your firmware and a fresh
installation of a usb stick image.
Migration has been described here:
http://www.meteohub.de/joomla/index.php ... &Itemid=29

Use USB-Stick image 2.6 instead of 2.2, the other steps should be the same.

The whole process is a bit time consuming, so don't start it when you are at the rush... ;-)
