Brian,
The notifications using the API sound great.
Best wishes for all of your August celebrations.

Hi Brian,
I just noticed that the new Lightning Alert says "Alert" and gives the distance, but does not have a Label - (Strike or Lightning).
Take care,
Chuck

Based on the rain that has fallen in the last two hours I'm wondering what happens to the rain bucket when it fills up?

It would be great to see an animation of the thing overflowing...
Btw. That's 48mm in the last two days which is 70% of the monthly average.

just hits top limit doesnt overflow ,how many days a year does that happen for you , animations unnecessary tried it before i think wrote years ago how much animations just crippled website performance especially low resource systems best keep it simple ..lucky you no rain here for 47 days and unlikely too see any till september.. distinct lack of storms this summer

reference to IFTTT notifications made some progress this morning ...with some realtime lightning and first rainfall in 54 days !
so far the lightning module triggers a direct push notification from the template to IFTTT so if you have a smart watch / phone/tablet with the IFTTT app then your good to go .the lightning push notification is based on a 30 minute interval can be set to any interval period in minutes 1 to whatever is preferred via the template setup screen. during intense storms the 30 minute interval would be appropriate don't want a notification for every strike detected sent.
the station description is taken from a separate new ID in the setup screen i.e mine is Weather34 but you need to keep that short as not to have the bulk of message/notification dominated by your ID.
next todo is the temperature/wind/rain based notifications .a bit of trial and error I doing at the moment to get the smoothest intervals . so as noted before I will or hope to have this done in September.
If you use pushover then a paid subscription account is required to be setup which can also be accessed via the IFTTT app on your device.
confused ? its quite simple really just requires some focus to make it run smooth and NOT annoyingly ..

Brian,
I like the idea of the variable interval for notifications. The present WeatherFlow Lightning notifications on Apple Watch are continuous during a round of storms - way too much.

hello chuck
I would release it now with lightning but trying to concentrate on languages for an hour each morning a tedious task but slowly going through each pop up and if there is any issues with notifications being pushed it all gets a bit overwhelming so I think September is a good time one thing at a time

.. the trick is getting the timing of intervals right so its not an annoying feature however you can always disable the feature in the setup screen.
you should see this appear over the weekend on GitHub a large lightning module for when in mobile view or tablet portrait .

Brian,
Having the lightning module available on mobile is a nice option. No hurry on the Alerts, I need to break out IFTTT, since I have not used it in a year, or so.
Take care,
Chuck

Hi Brian,
The lightning mod in portrait mode looks great! It is showing the last strike distance in km, but that is a minor issue.
I am now trying to see if I can work in a spot for the Indoor mod access on mobile.
Best wishes,
Chuck

if i get chance today i will add the miles , for additional indoor in mobile view just needs an option placed in the setup screen that i will do sometime this week ..
best avoid direct editing increases risk of broken code best to have same options for everyone.
